Volkswagen is back on the UEFA football pitch. The car manufacturer will be a partner of the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025. The UEFA Women’s European Championship will be held in Switzerland from 2 to 27 July. Volkswagen was already involved as a partner for the UEFA at the 2022 Women´s EURO in England 2022.

Christine Wolburg, Chief Brand Officer of the Volkswagen brand: "As a matter of conviction, we have supported both football of women and women in football for many years now. Sponsoring the UEFA Women’s EURO this summer is therefore a further sign of our commitment to visibility, fairness and genuine participation.”

As in the last tournament, Volkswagen is pursuing a second major goal with the partnership in addition to the attitude campaign: “We are also using the stage to present our models from the all-electric ID. family to an international audience”, Wolburg announces.

Volkswagen is a partner not only of the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 but also of seven of the 16 participating national teams: in addition to Germany and host Switzerland, these are France, the Netherlands, Denmark, Finland and Italy. In these countries, sponsorship agreements have been signed between the respective Volkswagen importers and the national football associations. Volkswagen will also be organising activities in other football-loving markets before and during the European Championship.

Guy-Laurent Epstein, UEFA Marketing Director, said: “UEFA is delighted to welcome Volkswagen back as an official UEFA Women’s EURO sponsor. Their continued support demonstrates a shared belief in the power and potential of the women’s game. As the tournament kicks off soon across Switzerland, this partnership helps us not only deliver a record-breaking competition but also drive meaningful investment into the growth of women’s football and create more opportunities for women and girls at every level of the sport.”

UEFA Women’s EURO is set to take place across eight host cities in Switzerland and is expected to be the most successful edition to date, with record-breaking attendance, investment and fan engagement.

Alexandra Popp, EURO ambassador for Volkswagen,German national player with 145 caps and Captain of VfL Wolfsburg: "Football of women has taken a fantastic leap forward in recent years: professionalism, quality and attention have developed extremely positively. Volkswagen has supported us from the very beginning – both at club level with VfL Wolfsburg and also at national level in the German Football Association, and in Europe, as now at the UEFA Women’s EURO. This commitment and this recognition are highly appreciated in the football world.”

At the last UEFA Women’s EURO, which had to be postponed from 2021 to 2022 due to the Coronavirus pandemic, Volkswagen attracted attention with its #KeinFrauenfußball, or #NotWomensFootball, attitude campaign. With this deliberately provocative slogan, it was pointed out that general language use differs between football and women’s football – as if they were different sports.

The women’s team at VfL Wolfsburg, a wholly owned subsidiary of Volkswagen AG, also benefits from the company’s support: for twelve years now, the female footballers from this German football club have been among the most successful in Europe, winning not only the UEFA Women’s Champions League twice, but also the German championship seven times and the German Cup eleven times.

The new Volkswagen Tayron achieved first-class results in the latest Euro NCAP test and received the highest rating of five stars. The result underlines the outstanding safety equipment of the new model and, at the same time, the high standards of Volkswagen. Under the guiding principle of “Safety for All”, Volkswagen has been continuously working on innovations for decades to further increase road safety – in all vehicle segments, for all road users and for all relevant accident scenarios.

Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme) assessed the Tayron based on four criteria: Adult Occupant Protection, Child Occupant Protection, Vulnerable Road User Protection (e.g. pedestrians, cyclists, etc.) and the safety support provided by driver assist and accident prevention systems. The 5-star rating achieved by the new SUV stands for an outstanding overall score, which reflects not only the continuous improvement of safety standards, but also the excellent equipment featuring assist systems for accident prevention as standard.

The Volkswagen SUV range is rocking upgraded style and value for money thanks to two new T-Roc special editions.

The T-Roc Style Design and Black Edition Plus come with added flair and features compared with the already well-specified Style and Black Editions trims, which they replace.

Both gain improved standard specification over their outgoing counterparts, including 19-inch Misano black alloy wheels, an electric tailgate, rear-view camera, keyless access, a panoramic sunroof and metallic paint with a black roof. The Style Design also gains a design pack – adding black door mirrors to match the roof – and Volkswagen’s IQ. The additional features on the Black Edition Plus would normally cost £3,225 if ordered as T-Roc options, but come at no extra cost on the newcomer; its price matches the previous Black Edition at £36,515 (on-the-road recommended retail price including VAT).

The Style Design’s additional features would cost £5,520 if ordered as options, but the upgraded model is priced just £1,000 more than the outgoing Style trim, at £33,205 (on-the-road recommended retail price including VAT).

The T-Roc Style Design and Black Edition Plus can both be ordered from Volkswagen UK Retailers from Thursday 22 May.

The Volkswagen Golf has been crowned the Best Fleet Medium Car at this year’s Great British Fleet Awards.

The award was announced at a celebration dinner following the Great British Fleet Event in Milton Keynes, which showcased the latest launches, solutions and developments in the fleet sector. The Great British Fleet Awards, judged by Fleet World’s expert panel, honour excellence in fleet management as well as products and services that help companies to run safe, environmentally sustainable and cost-effective fleets.

John Challen, Fleet World Editor, said: “Celebrating more than 50 years in the automotive world, Volkswagen’s Golf continues to go from strength to strength. It is economical, offers a vast range of powertrains across all body styles and is a pleasant place to be. The phrase ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ comes to mind, because the Golf continues to do everything so well.”

Commenting on the award, Owen Shepherd, Head of Direct Sales at Volkswagen UK, said: “The Golf has been a firm favourite with business and retail customers for the past five decades, and our recently updated version is once again setting the standards in its sector.

“The plug-in hybrid Match, Style and GTE versions in particular are immensely popular fleet cars. They combine assured driving characteristics with up to 88 miles of WLTP-combined electric-only range and fast 40 kW DC charging. Throw in CO2 emissions as low as six grammes per kilometre and current benefit-in-kind tax rates of just six per cent – not to mention generous space for people and baggage – and it’s clear these cars are true thoroughbreds.”

Success also for the Polo
The Volkswagen Polo was recently named the Intelligent Instructor Car of the Year for 2025.

Part of the Intelligent Instructor Awards, which recognise excellence within the driver training industry, the Polo finished top in a poll of more than 8,000 driving instructors across the UK.

Intelligent Instructor described the Polo as “the perfect partner for driving tuition and beyond” and said: “The car offers exceptional adaptability for both learner drivers and instructors alike. Its compact size makes it ideal for city driving and manoeuvrability, while its comfortable interior and high-quality build ensure a professional and enjoyable teaching experience. The smooth gearbox, light steering, and responsive handling help learners build confidence behind the wheel. Meanwhile, instructors benefit from its reliability, efficiency and advanced safety features.”

The Volkswagen Golf and Polo were the only non-SUV models to appear in the top-10 best-selling cars in the UK in 2024 – a fact that underlines their enduring popularity, value and quality.

Volkswagen has been the UK’s best-selling new-car brand for the past four years. A total of 166,304 new Volkswagen passenger vehicles were registered in the UK in 2024.
